KUALA LUMPUR: Nine joggers were compounded by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) today for defying the standard operating procedures of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0 which barred recreational activities at public parks.
The offenders were stopped in their tracks during a two-hour joint operation between Shah Alam police and MBSA at Taman Tasik Seksyen 7 and Taman Tasik Seksyen 14 which began at 7.30am.
Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said the compounds worth RM500 each were issued by MBSA under Section 109 of the Local Government Act 1976.
Five compounds were served to SOP violators at Taman Tasik Seksyen 7 while the rest at Taman Tasik Seksyen 14, he said.
"The public are reminded that jogging individually is only allowed around their neighbourhoods.
"Travelling over a 10km radius from their house and jogging in public parks is also banned under the National Security Council MCO 3.0 ruling which is being enforced until June 14," said Baharudin.
He urged the public to give their cooperation in adhering to the SOP to assist frontliners in breaking the Covid-19 chain of infection. - NST
