KOTA KINABALU: The number of Sabah's Covid-19 daily cases saw an increase to 307 with 75 per cent of these new infections coming from vaccinated individuals.

State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun reiterated his call to the people to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) and the Health Ministry's advice, regardless of whether they have been fully vaccinated or not.

"This is more so at the end of the year when families go on holiday and shop in crowded places.

"The risk of sporadic infection is extremely high in crowded areas, and this is proven with the percentage of sporadic cases recorded today, close to 44 per cent.

"Today, almost 75 per cent (230 cases) of new cases are among those who have been fully vaccinated," he said in a statement.

Five cases involved babies less than a year old, 14 involved 1 to 5-year-olds, 27 involved 6 to 11-year-olds, 35 involved 12 to 17-year-olds, 32 involved 18 to 25-year-olds, 147 involved 26 to 59-year-olds, whereas 47 cases involved those aged above 60 years.

Masidi said of the 307 overall cases today, 295 patients were under Category 1 and 2, two in Category 3, four in Category 4, and two in Category 5.

Another four cases were still under investigation and further assessment by the Health Department.

Sabah also registered five deaths – two in Keningau and one each in Kota Belud, Papar, and Ranau.

As of yesterday, 75.6 per cent of Sabah's adult population have completed their vaccination. As for teenagers, 71.14 per cent of them were fully vaccinated. - NST
