Investigation paper submitted on alleged indecent exposure by MIC man

Police have submitted an investigation paper on sexual harassment involving a MIC member to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) last week.

When contacted, Sungai Siput district police chief Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin (above) said the police would wait for the AGC's decision before taking any further action.

"We have referred it (the investigation paper) to the AGC last week. It is still being studied by the chambers," he said.

On Nov 25, a woman activist lodged a police report against a MIC member for allegedly opening his pants in front of her after an argument on the same day.

The activist, who is the secretary of an NGO, claimed that the party member had hurled inappropriate language at her before opening his pants.

According to the police report, the activist stated she and other NGO members, alongside Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council officers, visited the housing area after receiving complaints from local residents that the drains were clogged.

She said several MIC members at the scene blocked them and demanded that they leave.

During the argument, a MIC member allegedly used inappropriate language and opened his pants in front of the activist.

However, Sungai Siput MIC denied that anything indecent took place and lodged a counter police report against the woman activist on Nov 29.

In the counter-report, Sungai Siput MIC Youth wing deputy chief M Chandra Segaran claimed that it was the activist who provoked MIC members, which he said led to a verbal altercation between them and members of the NGO.

Chandra refuted that woman's allegation that he had committed indecent exposure. - Mkini
