PKR man claims Rina Harun absent from Titiwangsa, ignoring residents' problems

PKR's Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman has chided Titiwangsa MP Rina Harun, alleging that she is barely visible in her constituency and has been ignoring the issues and problems faced by the residents there.

"The recent protest against the redevelopment of Kampung Sungai Baru reflects the failure of Rina (above) in addressing the people's problems.

"A total of 110 residents who voiced their protest against the redevelopment of the area had to use other mediums, including the media, to voice their protest due to their constituency MP being negligent.

"Rina not only failed to take care of the problems of the residents, but she has disappeared for a long time and does not know about the problems of the area," Syed Badli claimed in a statement today.

Recently 110 residents of Kampung Sungai Baru objected to plans to relocate them as part of the redevelopment projects of the Kampung Baru area.

Sungai Baru Community Association chairperson Syed Salehuddin Syed Abdullah said the villagers recently received a gazetting letter under Section 8, Land Acquisition Act 1960, for the project and were asked to take turns to provide evaluation evidence to the Land and Mineral Office.

The residents say they do not wish to move from their present location.

Rina was elected in 2018 as part of the Pakatan Harapan clean sweep in Kuala Lumpur's 11 parliamentary seats. However as a Bersatu member, she was part of the group that crossed over to form the Perikatan Nasional government and she is currently serving as Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.

Earlier this year, it was reported that she had settled her debts after previously having been served a bankruptcy notice for debts owed to a Paris-based film and television programme production company, Sarl Novovision, to the tune of RM1,340,642.02.

Syed Badli, who until recently was PKR deputy youth chief, said Rina should make herself available to her constituents at a time of great need.

"Rina is failing to defend the interests of the residents and is not carrying out her duties as the people's representative, who should be playing a role of finding the best solution to the problem.

"Therefore, I urge Rina to come forward to give an explanation, failing which she should resign," Syed Badli added. - Mkini
