The government's actions do not live up to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob's "Keluarga Malaysia" slogan and were more reflective of "Keluarga Umno", said Warisan president Shafie Apdal.
He said despite Ismail Sabri's message of inclusiveness, political parties who refuse to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government are deprived of funding for their constituents.
"The slogan is we are a Malaysian family (Keluarga Malaysia) but if we do not sign the MOU, there is no allocation for the people we represent.
"Keluarga Malaysia? It is in fact Keluarga Umno," Shafie (above) told the Warisan annual general assembly in Kota Kinabalu today.
He also lamented Pakatan Harapan's decision not to push Ismail Sabri to prove his majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
"But it was never brought to Parliament. Why? Because they have signed an MOU," Shafie said.
Under the MOU, Harapan MPs agree not to obstruct the government's key legislative agendas in exchange for reforms and equal funding.
Unequal power
Shafie also lamented the unequal power relation between West and East Malaysia.
He pointed out despite Singapore's expulsion from the federation in 1965, its parliamentary seats were never reallocated, resulting in a concentration of parliamentary seats in West Malaysia.
"Kinabatangan in Sabah is larger than Pahang. Imagine one seat can be as big as Pahang which has 14 Parliament seats," Shafie said.
He added that the East Coast of Sabah is also plagued by piracy but much of the military asset is instead concentrated in Langkawi, Kedah.
