JOHOR POLLS | Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) is looking to contest two seats in the upcoming Johor state election.
The party said an announcement on which two seats it would contest will be made before nomination day of Feb 26.
Party president Larry Sng, when contacted, was also tight-lipped about potential seats.
PBM already has a presence in Johor via Tebrau MP Steven Choong - who quit PKR to be a Perikatan Nasional-friendly lawmaker in February last year.
Tebrau has two state seats under it, Puteri Wangsa and Tiram. Tiram is a PKR seat, while Muda will contest Puteri Wangsa.
In a statement today, PBM information chief Zakaria Abdul Hamid said the Johor election was the best avenue for the party to present its "The Great Reset 2030" agenda to the public.
He said the agenda consists of six cores namely to improve racial unity, increase youth participation, strengthen the role of women, develop the national economy, spur scientific and technological advancements, and increase the quality of education.
"We hope to provide healthy competition to other political parties competing in the state election, with the goal of strengthening Johor's democratic aspirations," Zakaria said.
PBM consists mostly of ex-PKR members who were aligned to Azmin Ali and Zuraida Kamaruddin. Several members had followed the duo into Bersatu before defecting to the new party.
PBM has expressed an interest to align itself with BN, although it is unclear as of now whether BN has reciprocated their interest.
Johor will go to the polls on March 12. - Mkini
