PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob received a visit from badminton icon Datuk Lee Chong Wei in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (May 4), Ismail Sabri posted a picture of himself with Lee and his family during their visit.
“Every year, Chong Wei, his wife, Mei Choo and two children will visit me for Hari Raya. Chong Wei and I have been close since I was the Youth and Sports minister,” he said.
Ismail Sabri also thanked the badminton icon for his efforts in uplifting Malaysia on the international stage.
“May you (Chong Wei) always help us to increase the success of the national badminton scene,” he said.
Lee’s Facebook page also stated that both he and Ismail Sabri were close since the latter’s portfolio as the Youth and Sports minister in 2008.
“Since then, my family always visits him during Hari Raya. Things are also more special since we have not visited them for two years while my sons Kingston and Terrence have also grown up,” he said.
Chong Wei also apologised for not wearing traditional Malay attire on Tuesday (May 3), saying that they were unable to prepare due to the surprise Hari Raya announcement.
