Cops hunting for man driving dangerously, waving stick at others

A screenshot from a video shows the Myvi driver waving a long stick as a warning to the motorists following him.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down the driver of a white Perodua Myvi for dangerous driving and criminal intimidation.

This follows a video of the incident that has been circulated on social media and a report lodged by a motorist yesterday.

Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai said the motorist complained that the Myvi driver was driving dangerously and zig-zagging along the road at the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) near Taman Layang-Layang, Kepong.

Watch the video here.

He told police the driver in front braked several times, causing the complainant to almost hit the Myvi.

When the complainant honked at him, the driver waved a long stick and started yelling something.

Beh said the complainant ignored the suspect and continued driving.

“However, the incident made him anxious for his safety and so he decided to report the incident to the police.”

The incident is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which is punishable by up to two years’ imprisonment or a fine, or both.

Anyone with information on the incident is requested to contact investigating officer Ahmad Syukor at 012-76774731 or the operations room of IPD Sentul at 03-40482222. - FMT
