Kerk renews call for BN reps to prove no effort to oust Malacca CM

Ayer Keroh assemblyperson Kerk Chee Yee renewed his call for BN state assemblypersons to prove that there has been no effort to oust Malacca Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali.

This came amid speculation that Sulaiman was being forced to resign, a claim Malacca Umno denied.

Kerk (above) noted that when similar claims emerged two months ago, he had asked all 20 BN representatives to dispel the claim by pledging their support for Sulaiman, who is Umno's Lendu assemblyperson, but BN had branded it as "cheap politics".

"If it is 'cheap politics', Malacca BN can easily refute this 'cheap politics' by asking their 20 assemblypersons to state their position," the DAP member said.

Kerk had asserted that Malacca should not see another round of political instability after last year's snap polls.

Yesterday, acting Alor Gajah Umno chief Rospandi Leman alleged that there were attempts to coerce Sulaiman into resigning.

Last year's snap polls were triggered after four assemblypersons quit the ruling coalition, complaining that Sulaiman was being controlled by Malacca Umno chief Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Rauf, who is the Tanjung Bidara assemblyperson, denied the claims.

In March, there were also renewed claims of conflict between Rauf and Sulaiman. - Mkini
