Klang Valley water supply to be restored tomorrow morning

Air Selangor says the water supply recovery period depends on the area as well as water pressure of the distribution system.

PETALING JAYA: Water supply to over 400 areas in the Klang Valley is expected to be fully restored by tomorrow morning following unscheduled cuts today.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said the supply to the affected areas had resumed in stages since 9pm.

“The water supply recovery period differs from one area to another according to the location as well as water pressure of the distribution system,” it said in a statement.

The water concessionaire also said the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant, which was shut down earlier due to pollution, had resumed operations at 3.30pm.

For areas affected by the shutdown of the Bukit Tampoi water treatment plant, Air Selangor said it would be activating alternative water supply from the Sg Semenyih plant for consumers.

Earlier today, 472 areas in the Klang Valley had experienced water cuts from 3pm.

Among those affected were Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54 areas), Sepang (196 areas), Putrajaya (23 areas) and Kuala Langat (27 areas).

The water treatment plants had to be shut down after odour pollution was detected at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station intake. - FMT
