Musa Aman makes rare appearance at Sabah BN event

KOTA KINABALU: After having laid low from the public eye for some time, former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman was spotted at Barisan Nasional (BN)’s Hari Raya event here this afternoon.

The event was also attended by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Sabah chief minister and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Hajiji Noor, and Sabah deputy chief minister and BN chairman Bung Moktar Radin.

When asked, Bung said Musa was one of many leaders invited to celebrate the festivities.

He refuted claims that Musa’s attendance was a sign that he would be returning to politics.

“He’s one of our leaders so that’s why we invited him. There’s no other issue… Not everyone is here to contest,” he said.

Musa was the Sabah chief minister for 15 years before Warisan took over the state government in the 2018 general election.

Following that, he was sidelined until August 2020 when he attempted to regain a role in the state government, stating that he had the majority to topple Warisan.

However, Musa’s efforts failed when then chief minister Shafie Apdal dissolved the state assembly to make way for the 16th state elections.

Musa decided not to contest and gave up his seat in Sungai Sibuga.

As of now, Musa is still an Umno member but does not hold any position. - FMT
