PETALING JAYA: Nearly half a million travellers entered Malaysia from Singapore through the countries’ land borders over the long weekend.
A report in Singaporean news outlet Today Online stated that of the 491,400 travellers who entered Malaysia from April 29 to May 3, a total of 201,900 used cars as their mode of transport.
Citing data from Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), it said 155,700 travellers used buses while 133,800 were on motorcycles.
Meanwhile, a total of 462,400 travellers entered Singapore from Malaysia through the land borders over the same period.
It was previously reported that about 280,000 travellers entered Malaysia from Singapore last Friday and Saturday as both countries celebrated Labour Day and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The borders between the two countries were officially reopened on April 1 after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. - FMT
