Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun has won the Port Dickson PKR division chief post, despite a protest against him during the party’s polling process last week.
According to the unofficial results on the PKR elections website, Aminuddin (above) won with 1,129 votes, over former incumbent Ravi Munusamy who garnered 951 votes.
On May 16, chaos erupted at premises in Port Dickson used as a PKR election polling station.
A group who called themselves “not pro-MB” had alleged that the election was rigged to favour Aminuddin, leading them to stage a protest at the polling station before a heated argument ensued between the protesters and another group.
Police officers, including those equipped with anti-riot gear, eventually were forced to interfere and defuse the situation.
Meanwhile, Rafizi Ramli has garnered more votes than his rival Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in seven of the eight divisions in Negeri Sembilan for the deputy president post.
Rasah was the only division in Negeri Sembilan that was won by Saifuddin, with a margin of 95 votes.
Collectively in Negeri Sembilan, Rafizi got 5,127 votes while Saifuddin received 2,485 votes.
Meanwhile, in Kelantan, Rafizi won nine out of the 13 PKR divisions there, with Saifuddin winning only in the Jeli, Machang, Kubang Kerian and Rantau Panjang divisions.
In total, Rafizi garnered 2,926 votes in Kelantan while Saifuddin got 1,995 votes.
PKR held its leadership election which kicked off on May 13 and lasted for 10 days. Unofficial results would be published on the party’s website over the course of today.
PKR Election Committee chairperson Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the results will only become official at the party’s congress that will be held on June 25 and 26. - Mkini
