Nine Pahang PKR divisions see chiefs win without contest

The Pahang PKR election process which started this morning saw nine of the 14 branch heads win without contesting.

Among those who retained their posts were Kuantan head Fakhrul Anuar Zulkawi; Indera Mahkota chief Lee Chean Chung; Rompin head Jamaludin Masri and Maran chief Bostamin Bakar.

Pahang PKR secretary Wong Ming Hui told Malaysiakini that other divisions that also saw no contests for the top posts include Bentong, Raub, Bera, Cameron Highlands, Jerantut and Kuala Krau.

"Manolan Mohamad will remain as Bera chief while Mohamad Hafez Harun will retain the post of Kuala Krau Chief.

“Four more branches feature new faces after previous incumbents did not contest.

"They are Jeffry Nizam, elected as Bentong head, Anuar Busu in Raub, Ismail Mohd Hussin in Cameron Highlands and Mohd Rafly Mohamad Satar as Jerantut chief," she said.

Ming Hui said the election results in the other four branches would only be known after the election process including online voting was fully completed by the end of this month.

She added that no incidents or problems were reported since polling centres opened at about 9 o’clock this morning.

Meanwhile, the contest for the Paya Besar chief is expected to be intense with a three-cornered fight on the cards.

The candidates for the post are incumbent Wan Fauzuldin Wan Samad who is being challenged by Ahmad Omar and Kamarzaman Mohamed Yunus.

The other three divisions that will see contests are the Pekan, Temerloh and Lipis divisions. - Mkini
