Education Minister Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said he is aware of the plight of a group of teachers who will see their contracts expiring next month.
"I have instructed (the ministry) to look into this and resolve it immediately. The Education Ministry and Education Services Commission are currently taking appropriate action.
"An announcement will be made once the process is completed," said Radzi on his Facebook page this morning.
The minister was responding to several comments left on his Facebook page regarding the issue.
Last week, Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching revealed that there were some 2,506 contract teachers who will see their agreements expiring next month.
These contract teachers were all currently pursuing post-graduate diplomas and had signed their two-year contracts on June 10, 2020.
These teachers specialise in English, Bahasa Malaysia, History, Islamic Education and Physical Education.
Teo said these teachers are unsure of whether the government will extend their contracts and if not, they may not receive a salary from June 11 onwards. - Mkini
