KUALA LUMPUR: Karate exponent H. Sureeya Sankar delivered Malaysia's second Sea Games gold medal from the Kumite event at the Ninh Bình Province Sports Gymnasium in Vietnam today.
Sureeya beat Indonesia's Hutapea Tebing 5-3 in the final to clinch the men's below-67kg title.
In the opening rounds, the Malaysian defeated Vietnam's Dang Hong Son (3-1) and the Philippines' Manantan John Matthew Coronel (8-0).
Earlier, C. Shahmalarani had won the women's below 50kg event. - NST
