Don't force me to reveal names of those involved in Musang King project, warns MB

GEORGE TOWN: The Opposition should not force me to reveal the names of the individuals responsible for approving the Musang King durian project in Gunung Inas, Baling, warns Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

The Kedah Mentri Besar claimed that he knew the identity of the individual who approved the project.

“I have received a report from the Kedah Forestry Department on the water head tragedy and floods in Baling, thus seeing the approval letter for the project.

“I know who signed the letter for the Musang King planting project.

“I already have a chronology from the Forestry Department but it is not fair to refer to only one department,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

This follows the action of Kedah Speaker Datuk Juhari Bulat to reject two urgent motions submitted by two Opposition assemblymen on the water surge issues and a motion to postpone the state assembly meeting to allow the issue to be discussed.

Sanusi said he was now waiting for the technical reports from the Irrigation and Drainage Department under the Environment and Water Ministry and the Minerals and Geosciences Department under the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry to conclude the cause of the water surge incident on Gunung Inas.

He also asked the Opposition not to continue politicising the floods issue in Baling.

On the same issue, Sanusi said the motion the Opposition tried to table did not follow the rules of the Kedah state assembly.

“Rules are made to allow enough time for those who want to debate the motion to provide answers.

"If an issue is raised involving a technical report that requires a departmental report, then the government needs time to get the report.

“We cannot talk casually in the hall,” he said.

Earlier, Environment and Water Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the flood in Baling on July 4 was caused by a burst reservoir on a Musang King durian plantation at Gunung Inas. - Star
