GE15: PN seat distribution not difficult, more or less settled - Muhyiddin

Perikatan Nasional (PN) is actively negotiating the distribution of seats among its component parties in preparation for the 15th general election (GE15), which is expected to be held soon.

Its chairperson, Muhyiddin Yassin, said the coalition refused to wait for long but instead sat down to discuss resolving the distributions it would make throughout the country.

The former prime minister also opined that negotiations would run smoothly.

“We have reached a decision in the last PN meeting, which PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang also attended.

“We want to sit down, negotiate and settle the distribution of seats throughout the country, parliament and states that we will face in the future (GE15).

“It’s not difficult. It’s more or less agreed upon, meaning there's a compromise,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Online.

He said this during the launch of PN Terengganu at Rusila Mosque, Terengganu, last night.

The launch ceremony was also attended by PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin, state chairperson Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and several other party leaders in the coalition.

Muhyiddin added that settling the seat distribution now will help their election machinery know who is contesting in which area and provide the appropriate assistance.

“Bersatu must help PAS win. In Bersatu areas, PAS will help Bersatu win because we are under the PN congregation,” he said.

The Pagoh MP also stressed that PN’s goal in entering GE15 was to win at a federal level.

He said that PN currently leads a few states, such as Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah. The ones we have won, (let it) stay victorious.

“The important task (for PN) is to save the country, not just Terengganu, Kedah and Kelantan.

“For that, we need to form a central government. We want to win by forming the federal government,” he said.
