PETALING JAYA: Kuala Nerus Umno chief Apli Yusoff has been appointed chairman of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), effective July 18.
PTPTN said Apli would helm the post for two years after taking over from Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan, whose tenure ended on June 17.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob handed Apli his letter of appointment in Parliament yesterday. Higher education minister Noraini Ahmad, was among those present.
A materials engineer by profession, Apli is also a board member of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), SME Corporation Malaysia, and Mara Incorporated Sdn Bhd (Mara Inc).
He is also the president of the Squash Racquets Association of Terengganu and a vice-president of Terengganu’s football association.
PTPTN said Apli used to serve as chairman of Tati Production Sdn Bhd and was a board member of PTB Securities Sdn Bhd.
It thanked Wan Saiful for his service since he was appointed as the PTPTN chairman on June 18, 2018. - FMT
