Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has met with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri to discuss cabinet appointments, including the position of deputy prime minister.
Speaking to reporters in Tanah Merah, Kelantan today, Muhyiddin said the meeting took place “a few days ago” and the topics were based on Perikatan Nasional’s agreement with the prime minister.
“I raised a few important issues including government appointments and not only to fill existing vacancies.
“(There needs to be) new appointments being considered based on PN’s agreement with the prime minister.
“We are not asking for more than that. This includes appointing a new cabinet minister, deputy prime minister, GLC appointments and appointments to statutory bodies,” he said.
Muhyiddin said this when asked if he had had the opportunity to discuss the possibility of replacing Zuraida Kamaruddin as plantation industries and commodities minister.
Zuraida quit Bersatu in late May. She is still serving in Ismail Sabri’s cabinet.
“I have made our views known and I hope for a swift decision based on what we are hoping for,” he said. - Mkini
