Police have launched an investigation against an aide to a Negeri Sembilan state exco member after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her at a hotel in Seremban.
Seremban district police chief Nanda Maarof confirmed the matter when contacted.
He told Malaysiakini that the woman lodged a police report against the aide two days ago, claiming that she was sexually assaulted by the man in two incidents.
“I confirm that police have received a report from the woman, who claimed that she was sexually assaulted at a hotel on March 30 and April 26.
“Police have commenced an investigation, including gathering evidence and statements from witnesses,” he said.
According to Nanda, police are investigating the case under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which stipulates the offence of assault or use of criminal force against a person with the intent to outrage modesty.
Nanda, however, declined to divulge further details on the alleged incident.
