Rodziah seeks PKR polls committee's explanation over nullified win

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli’s ally Rodziah Ismail, who was initially announced as the winner of the party women’s chief post, has sent an official request to the PKR election committee seeking an explanation on how the result had been overturned.

This was confirmed by an aide to the Selangor state assemblyperson when contacted today.

“Yes, YB (Rodziah) sent the letter to the election committee earlier today."

Initially, preliminary results for the PKR election showed Rodziah leading the race with 21,962 votes against Fadhlina Sidek, who garnered 21,502 votes. The majority was 460.

However, the final election result published by the PKR election committee yesterday showed Fadhlina won the post by a mere 32 votes.

The number of votes both contestants received had also decreased to 18,891 for Rodziah and 18,923 for Fadhlina respectively.

In a statement yesterday, election committee director Zaliha Mustafa acknowledged that a forensic audit had discovered attempts to tamper with the results by “irresponsible parties”.

However, she said the audit firm had suggested that the results be cleaned up - which the committee carried out in accordance with the digital analysis’ findings.

“However (the clean-up) did not affect the results for a majority of candidates, be it at the central or division levels,” Zaliha said.

According to sources, Rodziah’s majority was said to have further increased to around 500 after a process to evaluate ‘undi ragu’.  - Mkini
