LARUT: The government is to clarify allegations that 1.2 million Chinese nationals are still in the country after having entered Malaysia between 2018 and 2021.
Home minister Hamzah Zainudin said: “The figure claimed is not right. We will correct the figure to avoid any wrong perception.”
Recent reports had claimed that there were 1.2 million Chinese nationals in the country, based on immigration department statistics.
The number of Chinese nationals who had entered the country was 7,177,043 but the number of Chinese nationals recorded as having returned to their country was 5,954,765 individuals.
The difference comes to 1,222,278 people. - FMT
