PETALING JAYA: Rapid KL said today that its trains on the Ampang-Sri Petaling line will not stop to drop and pick up passengers at Platform 1 of the Masjid Jamek LRT station.
However, Platform 2 remains operational.
In a Facebook post, Rapid KL said the service disruption was due to “security factors” as areas surrounding the station were swarmed with visitors.
“We would like to apologise for the inconvenience,” it said.
Some commuters affected by the service disruption have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction.
Facebook user Salinasal Safar said Rapid KL should have prepared itself for the Merdeka Day celebrations. “People are ready to celebrate Independence (Day) and yet they are stuck,” she said.
Another netizen, Qairul Asrie, said on Facebook: “We are stuck at Bandaraya LRT (station), and 10 trains heading to Ampang have passed.
“Take some passengers to ease the situation as people want to go back home. Do your risk assessments properly.”
Rapid KL, in response to Qairul, said Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd has been notified of the matter. - FMT
