Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi), Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB), and Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak (Sedar) have agreed to form a new political coalition called Gagasan.
The announcement was made by its spokesperson and PBDSB permanent chairperson John Brian Anthony in a press conference here today.
John Brian said Gagasan’s main objective is to fight for Sarawak’s interests and promote an inclusive agenda for the state.
“This coalition is beyond electoral pacts; we are not going to focus only on the coming general election but in the long run.
“We have been called ‘mosquito parties’ because we are small parties, and it makes some of our ideas disappear because we don’t have enough voices, but now we are going to present it in a group (coalition),” he added.
Also present at the press conference were Aspirasi president Lina Soo, PBDSB president Bobby William and Sedar president Othman Abdillah.
John Brian said Gagasan will submit its application for registration to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) soon.
“Work is also in progress with other local political parties to ask them to join or work together with us,” he added.
