PUTRAJAYA, Aug 15 —  Najib’s bid to present additional evidence ..mere camouflage to fish for evidence, the Federal Court heard today.

Ad hoc prosecutor Datuk V. Sithambaram said this during prosecution’s rebuttal

Najib wished to adduce "recent" discovery that Nazlan was general counsel and company secretary for Maybank Group between 2006 and 2015

“This application is but camouflage.." Sithambaram added.

My comments :

By the way, what happened to the latest defense team's threat to resign from the case etc ?  

I suppose that to strictly follow the book, the FIVE learned judges of the Federal Court allowed Najib to make his latest presentations in Court today (Mon, 15th Aug 2022).

 

But the prosecutor Dato V Sithambaram is also a learned counsel and the learned counsel has rebutted that Najib's latest move in Court is a fishing expedition and camouflage.

 

Also the learned prosecutor has been handling this trial since the day it started. He should know the case better than Najib's latest set of defense lawyers - who have just been appointed to the case.

 

Najib has changed his lawyers again. (Almost three times if that application to bring in that Mat Salleh counsel is counted).  

 

My question to the FIVE honorable judges of the Federal Court is : if indeed this is a fishing expedition and the Federal Court agrees that this is a fishing expedition, then do we the public have to wait until after August 26, 2022 for the Court to say so?

 

If the Court is satisfied can the Court please make a much earlier decision and then announce it to the public?

The public is getting highly impatient with the delays not just in this case but in all the SRC, 1MDB and other related cases (the former First Lady case as well). Also the former DPM's corruption charges - which are also dragging for ever.

 

Because these cases are very high profile and of great public interest.  The public indeed expects the law to have a very long arm to reach anywhere and everywhere. But the phrase "the long arm of the law" also implies swiftness. It must be quick.

(By the way, since that spy chief has been acquiited what happened to that RM50 Million? Those were obviously public funds. Some was stolen by those MACC fellows. What happened to the rest of that money?)  

The country needs to disinfect, stitch up and close the gaping wounds that have been inflicted upon us all - over the past few years. The country needs to move on. The law should continuously make examples of bad people (with urgency) so that in the future other bad people will be afraid to break the law.
