All parties that make up the government with BN must be involved in making the decision to dissolve Parliament, including coalitions Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak, said Environment and Water Minister Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
The PAS deputy president reminded that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration is not dominated by BN and Umno.
"In this situation, priority is not only on expediting the general election, but also to see to the aspect of the people's welfare and state of the country's economy.
"It’s not about a political party being afraid or unprepared to face the election, but the actions by certain quarters unilaterally putting pressure on the prime minister must take into account realities of the government today," Tuan Ibrahim (above) said.
PAS and other PN components are ready for any situation and the Islamist party has even launched its state-level election machinery, he said, adding that the national launch will be on Sept 3 in conjunction with its muktamar.
"PN in conjunction with its two-year anniversary will also launch its election machinery on Aug 27," he said.
Fear of hung Parliament
Earlier, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on Facebook that the fear of a hung Parliament should not be used as an excuse to delay GE15, quoting views by political analyst Wong Chin Huat as a speaker at the Keluarga Malaysia Symposium attended by Ismail Sabri yesterday.
The prime minister had yesterday raised concerns over a possible hung Parliament or a situation where no one single party will be able to obtain enough seats to form the government without any coalition partners.
Umno and PAS signed the Muafakat Nasional charter after the 14th general election.
However, cracks emerged between both parties after PAS decided to join the Bersatu-led PN coalition.
