PETALING JAYA: A veteran leader of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) has accused DAP of complacency in Mas Gading after the opposition party’s victory in the 2018 general election.
Peter Minos said PBB had a good chance of regaining the seat as DAP seemed to have taken the people of Mas Gading for granted.
“The party has been complacent as it does not really want to serve the people. DAP is only ‘making noise now and then’, which is very disappointing,” he said, according to the Borneo Post.
He said DAP, one of four partners in Pakatan Harapan, had won because of discontent over the 1MDB and goods and services controversies. “They promised the moon and people got ‘hoodwinked’,” he said.
Mordi Bimol of DAP was elected Mas Gading MP in 2018 with a 3,024-vote majority over his rival Nogeh Gumbek of Barisan Nasional. Gumbek had won the seat in 2013. Bimol is believed to be seeking re-election at the coming general election.
The constituency in Kuching covers the Bau and Lundu districts.
Minos said the ruling coalition of Gabungan Parti Sarawak had been delivering good service to the people, which would help the coalition win Mas Gading. - FMT
