An RM250 fine will be imposed on business premises in Ipoh if they refuse to comply with the instructions to fly the Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with this year’s National Day celebrations.
Ipoh mayor Rumaizi Baharin said the compound will be issued in accordance with the general conditions written on the back of each business premises’ licence under Section 107(2) of the Local Government Act.
“To enliven the celebrations this time, we have issued 6,000 flag installation notices to private premises in Ipoh and hoisted more than 5,000 Jalur Gemilang along the main streets and around Ipoh City.
“We will monitor these premises regularly usually a week before National Day, but all this time, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) is still being tolerant by giving advice instead of issuing compounds,” he said after launching the 2022 MBI-level Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign at Persiaran Bandaraya today.
Over 1,000 city folks enlivened the programme which also featured a variety of interesting activities including a parade of the MBI enforcement team, a performance, and the installation of the Jalur Gemilang on MBI’s official vehicles.
