MCA should work on discounts for BN-controlled subsidised housing schemes first before proposing such a scheme for Selangor, said two Selangor PKR assemblypersons.
In a statement, Rawang assemblyperson Chua Wei Kiat (above) said MCA was part of the federal government which controlled the PR1MA and Rumawip housing schemes.
"These are federal government projects with unsold units. MCA, as part of the federal government and several state governments, should work on securing discounts for those schemes first to convince people they can do the same for Selangor," he said in a statement.
Similarly, Bukit Melawati assemblypersons Juwairiya Zulkifli said MCA need not wait until they form the Selangor government to implement such policies because they could do so in BN-held states of Malacca and Johor.
"MCA's proposal is not only populist but impractical because the cost of building materials is rising, making it difficult for developers to meet the demands for affordable housing," said JUwairiya, according to Free Malaysia Today.
Juwairiya is the political secretary to Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shaari.
At the Selangor BN convention on Sunday, state MCA chief Ng Chok Sin proposed that a BN-run state government could offer a 50 percent discount for homes sold by Selangor State Development Corp (PKNS). - Mkini
