Four senators have been sworn in at the Dewan Negara this morning, following their appointments to the cabinet last night.
The swearing-in ceremony took place before Dewan Negara Speaker Rais Yatim at the Parliament building.
The first one to take his oath at 8.30am was PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who was appointed home minister.
This was followed by former CIMB Group Holdings Bhd CEO Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who was given the International Trade and Industry portfolio.
BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir was the third to get sworn-in at 8.39am, he will be heading the Foreign Ministry.
Chief Syariah Court Judge Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, who was appointed religious affairs minister, completed the ceremony by taking his oath at 8.45am, reported Utusan Malaysia.
It is worth noting that aside from Na'im, the other three were defeated candidates in the 15th general election (GE15) and had to be sworn in as senators to take up their cabinet posts. - Mkini
