Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has dubbed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinet an “unnatural government”.
This is due to the appointment of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the deputy prime minister, despite the ongoing corruption cases against him.
“This government goes against the people’s will and aspirations. We do not want this.
“The ‘tsunami’ that happened in the 15th general election (GE15) did not mean we wanted a Pakatan Harapan and BN government,” he said.
He was speaking during a ceramah session for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat election in Taman Mutiara, Kulim, Kedah, last night.
According to Sanusi, the “Malay tsunami” in GE15 was meant to form a “clean, stable, and concerned” government, and not for a “kleptocratic, chauvinist” government that would control the people’s behaviour.
He further urged voters for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat and Tioman state seat to send a clear message to the government that they are not happy with the current situation.
Polling day for both seats will take place on Dec 7 with early voting being carried out today. The elections for both seats were postponed following the deaths of some candidates.
Last September, the Shah Alam High Court acquitted Zahid of all graft charges in relation to the Foreign Visa System (VLN). The prosecution is appealing the decision and the Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear the case on Jan 10.
The Bagan Datuk MP, however, was ordered to defend himself against 47 criminal charges of breach of trust (CBT), corruption, and money laundering linked to tens of millions of ringgit in funds from Yayasan Akalbudi. - Mkini
