Juhar expected to be reappointed as Sabah governor for fourth term

Juhar Mahiruddin is expected to be reappointed as Sabah governor for the fourth time, reported Malay daily Utusan Malaysia

This is amid speculations that three candidates, namely former chief ministers Musa Aman and Joseph Pairin Kitingan, and former Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia, were running for the position.

Yesterday, Free Malaysia Today reported that Juhar (above) would be replaced.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at Singgahsana Kecil, Istana Negara today, reported Utusan Malaysia.

Juhar, 65, was appointed the 10th Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah on Jan 1, 2011, replacing Ahmadshah Abdullah, and was reappointed to the post for a second term on Jan 1, 2015.

Juhar, a law graduate from Wolverhampton Polytechnic, England, was Sabah state assembly speaker between 2002 and 2010 and deputy speaker of the Dewan Rakyat from 1990 to 1999.

In December 2018, the then Warisan administration removed the two-term limit of the state governor as stipulated in the state constitution, allowing Juhar to be reappointed for another term. - Mkini
