Khairy Jamaluddin has moved his Umno membership from the Rembau division in Negeri Sembilan to Sungai Buloh in Selangor, where he contested in the recent general election.
According to the former health minister, he decided to move there as it would be unfair if he were to abandon Sungai Buloh after losing in the run for its parliamentary seat.
"I don’t like leaving things unresolved, and I don’t think it’s fair for everyone that I came as a high-profile parachute candidate here but moved to another place after losing," he said, as quoted by The Star.
Khairy held the Rembau seat for three consecutive terms since 2008.
However, BN top leadership decided that Khairy would not defend the seat in the 15th general election, and moved him to contest in Sungai Buloh instead, which was a known Pakatan Harapan stronghold.
The election saw Khairy lose to Harapan's R Ramanan, who received a 2,693-majority vote. - Mkini
