Looking after the wellbeing of the Indian community is the collective responsibility of all cabinet ministers, and not his alone, Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar has said.
Thus, the notion that the Indian community will be neglected due to him being the sole Indian minister in the cabinet should not arise, he said.
“Addressing the issues faced by the Indian community and its wellbeing does not lie on the Indian minister alone. Instead, all appointed cabinet members must take responsibility for it.
“We (the cabinet) will ensure that all the policies made will benefit all the rakyat, regardless of their race,” Sivakumar (above) told the media after reporting for duty at the ministry in Putrajaya today, reported Berita Harian.
According to him further, Indian MPs who are not part of the cabinet should also help the community.
Sivakumar, who’s also the Batu Gajah MP, said that addressing issues surrounding manpower issues and job opportunities will be his priority.
Commenting on the 20 percent pay cut taken by cabinet ministers, Sivakumar said it was the right move when the people are undergoing hardship. - Mkini
