PADANG SERAI: A Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader has allegedly described voters as being stupid and an embarrassment for wanting money to return to vote.
State PN chief Sanusi Md Nor, seen in a campaign video posted on TikTok, also said some voters had resorted to sulking online when they didn’t get the allowance for voting.
The video clip shows Sanusi was making a campaign speech in support of PN candidate Azman Nasruddin in the Padang Serai parliamentary election to be held on Dec 7.
Sanusi appeared to be incensed over voters seeking payment. In contrast, he said Pakatan Harapan supporters were willing to travel home to vote, from as far as Australia and the Americas.
“They knew the importance in assuming control of this land,” he is seen saying. “Here you are asking for RM50. You are stupid,” he said. “One whole family from Australia spent RM40,000 to return to vote for Pakatan Harapan. They didn’t ask for money.”
Sanusi said Kedah had been already taken over by them (without explaining who he meant). “No wonder we were colonised badly, and no wonder our (PN) victory was snatched away from us, for we are so calculative.
“Your vote is important. Don’t be calculative over RM50 to RM200 worth of petrol money. Those fighting us are coming back from Taiwan, China, Singapore, United States, Australia and voted for Pakatan Harapan. They didn’t ask for a single sen,” he is heard saying .
