Terengganu is open to discussion with other states to hold their state elections simultaneously to save cost, Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said today.
He also said at the moment no formal discussions have been held among the six states that would have to hold their state assembly elections - Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang.
However, he said, there were casual discussions regarding the matter.
“We will try to find the time and place for a formal discussion to synchronise the dissolution of the state assemblies,” Ahmad Samsuri (above) told reporters after an event at Wisma Darul Aman in Kuala Terengganu.
Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan are led by Pakatan Harapan while Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan are ruled by PAS.
The six states did not dissolve their respective state assemblies, which would have enabled these state elections to be held simultaneously with the 15th general election (GE15) last Nov 19.
