Police will be calling in Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh to take her statement in regard to their probe on the cancelled ‘Jom Ziarah Gereja’ event.
Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai said they hoped to record the minister's statement soon, according to reports.
One of Yeoh's detractors, however, claimed there is a conspiracy to cover up the minister's wrongdoings.
Bersatu activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin - better known as Chegubard - said this was based on the race of the police officers who took his and Yeoh's respective complaints against each other.
He said that Yeoh's police report against him was handed to a Chinese inspector, while his report against the minister was given to an Indian inspector.
"It is unlikely that it is a coincidence that both officers are non-Muslims.
"But I am confident that this was not a decision of the police force but instead pressure from above," he told reporters outside the Sentul district police headquarters before submitting himself for questioning.
Badrul (above) had previously accused Yeoh of Christian evangelism over the planned ‘Jom Ziarah Gereja’ event.
The planned visit to a church was part of a wider programme where youths would be brought to different houses of worship to foster better understanding.
Yeoh, however, denied the evangelism charge and lodged a police report against Badrul.
Yeoh also clarified that no Muslim youths had been involved in the ‘Jom Ziarah’ programme.
The planned church visit - which was supposed to happen last weekend - was subsequently cancelled.
Badrul told reporters today that he is not against other faiths, but stressed that proselytisation of Muslims is a crime. - Mkini
