Lets Do A Slightly Different "First 100 Days" Report Card / Jom Kita Lihat Report Card "100 Hari Pertama" Yang Lain Sikit

 

Lets do a First 100 Days Report Card from my side of the table. Or my side of the counter. Or my side of the equation. Or from the ordinary rakyat's side of things. 

1. My electricity bill is still the same. The power companies are making billions in profits yet there has been no reduction in the electricity tariffs. 

The gomen's retort is 'be thankful we did not raise your electricity tariff'.  But they did raise the electricity tariffs - for the MV and HV users ie the factories and shopping malls etc - which has raised the kos sara hidup for the entire country. Because now manufacturing costs and operating costs have gone up. The penjual kereta association has already made a media statement that because of the higher electricity tariffs their car prices had to go up since January this year. 

2.  The two SPM teenagers were arrested for making a Tik Tok video about their SPM paper. Some people have pointed out their race. A few days ago some young people who made another movie that was uploaded "outside" the country were "interviewed" by the police - about their video. Also a couple of days back some young fellows who were yelling political propaganda from the roof of a car or van were also being investigated by the police. But isnt that what democratic politics is all about - the freedom to stand on top of your car or van and criticise your political opponents, including those in power?

(Folks I am going to start a new column - it will be called "Clampdown On Dissent". I will just record news reports about teenagers getting arrested by police for making Tik Tok videos, movie makers being questioned by police for making movies, political campaigners being investigated by police etc. Is this the age of Madani?) 

3. None of the numerous government granted monopolies in the country have been abolished.  Not even one monopoly license from the wicked and cruel days of Mahazalim and Mahafiraun have been abolished. 

Instead now there is a controversy about yet another new, government granted monopoly - the importing of 'tulur' from India. The Minister of Agriculture YB Mat Sabu has not explained this story in full. Monopoli lama satu pun tak buang, tapi monopoli baru pula sudah timbul. What is going on?

That rice import monopoly is still in place. WHY?  We are the only country in the world where the old Mahazalim and Mahafiraun government thought it was a good thing to grant licenses for monopolies and oligopolies. But it looks like the Madani gomen is also continuing with the same policies.

Oops lets not forget that infamous, government granted monopoly for pharmaceutical supplies which has also gone bust. They recently applied for PN17 status. Over RM500 million of public funds are  at risk. Ok ok saya setuju they incurred their loss BEFORE your "first 100 days" but do they still get to keep their monopoly license?

And will they now be "bailed out" using more public funds - again?  So what is so new about the "first 100 days"? 

(Note : Ok ok, I know some of you clowns have been saying that there is no such thing as the 'first 100 days'. Really? Is it another Jewish conspiracy? Ok no problem. Then I will give you 1,000 days. 1,000 days is about THREE YEARS - if you can last that long. If you cannot do it in the first 100 days, can you abolish these monopolies in 1,000 days? Just answer 'Yes we will' or 'No we will not'. There cannot be an in between answer. "Maybe, we will see first, we will consider, we must study the situation" etc all mean one thing - YOU WILL NOT ABOLISH THE MONOPOLIES.)

4.  I will soon be writing THREE SURAT TERBUKA to YB Nga Kor Ming. This is regarding local governments or pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT). They are still messed up. Nothing much has changed - from my perspective as an ordinary rakyat and as a dependent of PBT services. The rakyat like me are suffering financial loss because the PBTs are still kelam kabut and keliru in how they do things.  I will be sharing three cases for YB Nga Kor Ming's attention - some with photographs for your kind action. Of course I have some suggested solutions. I always do. I do not just complain, complain, complain without making any suggestions how to solve these problems.

But the point is nothing much has changed.  YB Nga where is your 'First 100 days' list? You dont have one ah? 

5. The bottom line is that for us the ordinary rakyat, NOTHING MUCH HAS CHANGED in the first 100 days. Sama saja. Same same only. 

Instead there are new and more worrying developments in the first 100 days - a good example is that CLAMPDOWN ON DISSENT. Tik Tok video teenagers, movie makers, young fellows shouting on top of their cars are being investigated?   

6. Then there are those nasi lemak vending machines. How much does each of those machines cost? I say YB Wan Saiful Wan Jan can you please ask some detailed questions in Parliament about those nasi lemak vending machines? Siapa supplier? And who paid for those nasi lemak vending machines? The taxpayer? If you factor the cost of the nasi lemak vending machines (my old American management professors would say 'amortisation'. 'amortisation :   the action or process of gradually writing off the initial cost of an asset) then what is the actual cost of one packet of that RM2/= nasi lemak?
