Muda is calling on Pakatan Harapan to end their months-long wait for an answer on whether the party can join the coalition.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said they already sent three letters on the matter and are not looking for positions in the government.
“We stood by our principles and we are loyal. We stood by Anwar Ibrahim prior to the election, during the election, after election, and until today.
“We are not expecting posts - if we talk about positions. But it’s about being able to be part of the decision-making in policies and deciding the future of our beloved country,” he told Malaysiakini on the sidelines of Parliament today.
Muda applied to join Harapan prior to the 15th general election.
However, fearing complications with the Registrar of Societies, Harapan decided to forge an electoral pact with the youth party instead.
Syed Saddiq said the situation is different now as Harapan is now in the government.
He said Muda would accept whatever decision the coalition arrives at.
“We respect our friends in Harapan and the government. Whatever answer they give (we will accept) but we need an answer. So that there is a finality to this process,” he said.
Syed Saddiq said the lack of response from Harapan has also impacted Muda’s preparations for the upcoming six state elections.
Asked whether Muda had alternative plans, the Muar MP replied in the negative but stressed that they want their application to join Harapan resolved. - Mkini
