Over 340,000 students start first day of school in Perak on Monday (March 20)

 

IPOH: A total of 342,482 pupils started their first day of school in Perak, says Mohamad Fauzi Mahson.

The Perak Education Department director said that of this, 151,222 are secondary school students and the remaining 191,260 are primary school pupils.

“Today we don’t only see pupils and students feeling excited, but parents as well.

“Some schools, such as SK Meru Raya even had mascots to welcome the students. We can see many entering the school smiling,” he told reporters after visiting the school on Monday (March 20)

Three mascots; Transformers’ Bumblebee and Disney’s Mickey and Minnie Mouse were seen greeting the pupils at the school’s entrance.

SK Meru Raya has 876 pupils and 64 teachers, and 143 of these students are entering Standard One.

Mohd Fauzi said there are more than 37,000 teachers in the state who are teaching in Perak.

“From the figure, 16,887 are teaching at secondary schools and another 20,441 are stationed at 852 primary schools,” he said, adding that there are 253 secondary schools in Perak.

“We also have 242 new teachers, including 169 teachers at secondary schools and 73 at primary schools,” he said. - Star
