KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a local man in connection with a string of snatch theft cases.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said police were initially alerted to a snatch theft near Jalan Lorong Mas Ria 3, Taman Bunga Raya, Taman Melati here following a report lodged on Thursday (March 16) morning.
"Based on information received, a team of police from Wangsa Maju CID arrested a 31-year-old suspect near Blok C9, Flat Taman Melati, believed to be the main suspect.
"We also seized a sling bag, 11 mobile phones, one iPad, one powerbank, three packets containing a substance believed to be syabu, a food delivery bag, two purses containing various documents and various foreign currency notes," he said in a statement on Friday (March 17).
He said the suspect confessed to his involvement in at least nine snatch theft cases around Setapak and Wangsa Maju.
"The suspect has been remanded for six days to assist with further investigations.
"We warn the public not to participate in any acts that are against the law," he said, urging those with information on similar cases to contact the Wangsa Maju police hotline at 03-9289 9222 or the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999. - Star
