PETALING JAYA: Ahmad Sabki Yusof has been appointed as the new chairman of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) effective March 1, Bernama reported.
He was previously the political secretary to Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub. He held the post while Salahuddin was the agriculture and agro-based industry minister under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government between May 2018 and February 2020.
In a statement, SSM said Sabki, who has a Master’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Comparative Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia, has vast experience in fields related to companies and commerce.
“He has also held key positions in various companies, organisations, and legal firms in the fields of commercial law, management, corporate governance, compliance and risk management,” it said.
Sabki was also the former Amanah deputy communications director. - FMT
