Terengganu Harapan chief takes aim at PAS over Menu Rahmah

Several senior PAS leaders have been criticised for being “ungrateful” of the food served under the Menu Rahmah programme, despite their denials that they have criticised it directly.

Terengganu Pakatan Harapan chief Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad went on to claim that current PAS leaders were no longer sensitive to the hardships faced by the people.

“PAS leaders in the past did not condescend food provided by God, but now they act as if they are of the VVIP (very very important person) status.

“After experiencing the pleasures of being in the government and state administrations, they have elevated themselves and are no longer sensitive to the hardships of the ordinary people who appreciate all forms of food sustenance, including Menu Rahmah, with gratitude,” Kamarul (above, left) said in a statement.

He alleged that PAS was more respected by the public before it became part of the central government but has now become arrogant.

Chukai assemblyperson Hanafiah Mat was recently seen in a Tiktok video talking about his dissatisfaction with the mixed rice dish he was eating, consisting of fish and vegetables without gravy.

He then poured liquid from a cup he brought onto the dish.

The video has gone viral on social media and received pushback from many quarters, including Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

However Hanafiah, who is a Terengganu exco member, later explained that his meal shown in the video was not an item under the Menu Rahmah programme.

Kamarul also cited Kapar MP Halimah Ali’s linking of Menu Rahmah to health issues such as cancer and autism during a debate in the Dewan Rakyat.

Halimah has repeatedly denied making the statement and urged people to refer to the Hansard as proof, despite the record showing otherwise.

The Menu Rahmah programme is a recently launched government initiative to reduce the cost of living, especially for the poor, by offering meals at RM5 or below. - Mkini
