PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man quashed rumours going around political circles that his party was planning to quit the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
When met in Parliament today, the PAS leader denied ever hearing of such a rumour.
“No such thing. I’ve never heard of it,” said the Kubang Kerian MP.
It is unclear how the rumour started and Malaysiakini has been unable to verify it.
However, it appeared to have gained traction after top PAS leaders were absent from Bersatu’s annual general meeting (AGM) over the weekend.
Asked about this, Tuan Ibrahim said it was simply a matter of clashing schedules.
“We have informed the Bersatu leadership. We were invited but it so happens the PAS divisions are having annual general meetings.
“Most of us were officiating the division meetings. I myself officiated at five divisions,” he said.
The opening of Bersatu Youth’s 4th AGM on Saturday saw the attendance of several PAS Youth and Gerakan Youth leaders.
The meeting was held at Gerakan’s headquarters in Menara PGRM, Kuala Lumpur.
However, no prominent PAS leaders were seen during Bersatu’s main meeting on Sunday. Bersatu, PAS, and Gerakan are partners in the PN coalition. - Mkini
