Breach of OSA if Hamzah kept Home Ministry files - PKR MP

Koel: Two urgent questions arise from the issue involving former home minister Hamzah Zainudin.

Did he remove classified files belonging to the government and keep them with him in his capacity now as a civilian?

Is he privy to some past corrupt practices or wrongdoing that he has failed to disclose to the proper authorities for immediate action to be taken?

His recent remarks appear to suggest this. These are the most urgent concerns that authorities should investigate.

If the answer is "yes" to either question, he must be investigated for possible theft of classified files or for colluding in wrongdoing.

Kilimanjaro: Well, there is one major problem with Hamzah. He probably likes power and is obsessed with it. He went a step further, that is what we know and have heard from the infamous audio clip that had him saying that he wants his men in positions in the police force.

Despite this, most of us can rest assured that the police force heads of the past have been professional enough in maintaining silence on matters within their purview and knowledge even after they have retired.

One would assume that senior officers in the police force, the Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani included, would be sitting on a wealth of information that even ruling politicians may not know.

Often cursed as the "deep state", the professionalism maintained by them in retirement is what sets apart a politician like Hamzah from them.

What could be termed the worst politician of a kind in these terms, Hamzah baited himself. Maybe others who graced the same chair undoubtedly would have sat on the treasure trove, but Hamzah seems the only one who comes to mind in opening his big mouth.

Maybe he still cannot accept the fact he is no more the home minister and the knowledge of what he was sitting upon should be zeroised upon leaving office. In his moment of excitement, he wanted to remind himself and the public that he is still the home minister or at least pretends to be one.

Maybe he will be made to pay for his indiscretions as his dangerous pursuit may alarm Malaysians whether he has the kind of information that can compromise national security.

The government of the day and the security apparatus cannot simply ignore his treacherous path. Beyond all this, he baited himself and this will come to haunt him.

Mazilamani: This country needs mature and Intelligent leaders, whether from the government or the opposition. I think we are lacking in this area.

Not desperate politicians who blabber away threats with unmentionable remarks, that breach the Official Secret Act (OSA) and Oath of Secrecy before the King. Especially if you had once held a key ministerial position.

The trend of testing or challenging the government and even the rulers, is becoming too frequent amongst PAS and Bersatu leaders.

The threats should not be treated lightly by the attorney-general and law enforcement. Their wayward ways must be curbed before it gets out of hand.

The opposition leaders facing court cases must not indirectly instigate their supporters against other races, whose only sin is voting for the right leader and party. Don't put the lives of innocent people in danger.

If someone commits a despicable crime against the king, country and people, be also brave enough to accept the punishment on consequences. Don't attempt to deflect it.

Citizen_Zero: Why the need to shout about what you can do, Hamzah? Just do it. But, you are not the home minister now. You cannot act on anything under the purview of the home minister and under or touching the OSA.

It is not up to you whether you want to do it or not. When you keep saying you can anytime find the faults of ‘they’ and ‘them’, who are you referring to? Those in the current government? The MACC? The police?

You need to be specific, and on what issue. Otherwise, you will be inciting your followers to be hostile towards anybody they want. And also make the ‘rakyat’ worry and apprehensive. A person with home minister credibility does not do this. Stick to the topic. How did the hundred million end up in your Bersatu’s party account?

Fisher: He has viewed many files in his previous official role and probably has good knowledge and memory of some. His threat now could be quite telling. As home minister, he had the archival source in many relevant matters.

In an allegedly corrupt political atmosphere for some decades many leaders could have secrets to hide and hold for personal safeguard, blackmail and revenge action too.

One never knows and the rot is probably beginning to ooze out in the present political atmosphere where past governance has come under scrutiny as having been indulgent in abuses whilst in power.

VioletKijang9137: That statement alone communicates intent on breaking the law - it may constitute a threat - a criminal act, and wilful suppression of evidence without escalation of any acts of wrongdoing comes under his knowledge, a breach of OSA and as well as the breach of his oath taken before the Agong as a government official, as well a total failure to execute his duties as home minister.

The failure to act against Hamzah by the relevant regulatory authorities is an act of sheltering criminal acts.

Nuyiko: That’s the problem when they see public funds and government files as their personal property, and that’s why they see no wrong in accepting a donation in exchange for favours like awarding contracts.
