No fraud involved in ownership of police reserve land, say cops

PETALING JAYA: There are no elements of fraud regarding the status of a police reserve land in Kamunting, Perak that is owned by a Christian organisation, says Bukit Aman police secretary Noorsiah Saaduddin.

She said the case had been classified as “No Further Action (NFA)”, Utusan Malaysia reported.

“The investigation into the land status reveals that Lot 784 has been owned by The Titular Roman Catholic Bishop of Melaka since 1883,” Noorsiah was quoted as saying.

This came after a police report was filed to identify the ownership of the disputed land in Kamunting which houses the quarters for married personnel and the residence of the local police station chief.

Noorsiah called for all parties to refrain from politicising the issue and “manipulate it to confuse public perception” following the outcome of the investigation.

On April 30, a news portal reported that the ownership of a federal police reserve land in Kamunting was transferred to a “church organisation in Melaka”, without the knowledge of the police.

It said the transfer was revealed after the police received a letter from the Catholic church’s law firm demanding the ownership rights to a 0.55-hectare land in Mukim Kamunting.

Taiping district police then filed the police report on April 20 to investigate the ownership of the disputed land. - FMT
