PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on state governments to have a clear policy in place to upgrade and maintain food courts and stalls across the country.
He said he had already held discussions with the local government development ministry as well as the menteris besar and chief ministers of each state to draw up plans to “beautify” these areas to support lower income groups which rely heavily on them for income and food.
These efforts to upgrade basic infrastructure were crucial in improving the lives of the people, he said.
“I hope that in the next few months, we will see state governments and municipal councils come out with their own plans to develop these facilities throughout the country,” Bernama quoted him as saying today.
He also thanked Kuala Lumpur City Hall for its work in rebuilding hawker centres around the city. - FMT
