Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Wong Soon Koh has urged party members to back Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's federal administration.
In his speech during the PSB's inaugural state-level Gawai Dayak Dinner in Sibu on Saturday, Wong said the party wanted Anwar to fulfil the Malaysia Madani vision and ensure political stability.
"Now that our state GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) government has joined hands with the seemingly impossible partners to form the national unity government, we should all give full support to make sure that the government remains stable and strong in the face of so many adverse, divisive forces of racism and religious extremism.
"It is hoped that the new administration under the leadership of Anwar Ibrahim, with a decisiveness of action and admirable courage, can carry out his objective of Malaysia Madani to wipe out corruption and inefficiency and to remove all forces of division among our people," he said, according to Borneo Post.
This is the first time PSB has voiced support for the Anwar administration.
PSB currently does not have any MPs in the Dewan Rakyat. However, it has three state assemblypersons in the 82-seat Sarawak state legislative assembly.
Wong, who is also the legislative assembly opposition leader, said PSB had also committed to backing Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Open in the spirit of stability and unity.
He said PSB wanted Abang Johari to carry out his agenda to develop Sarawak into a high-income society by 2030.
Other PSB personalities at the event were Engkilili assemblyperson Johnical Rayong Ngipa and Ba'kelalan assemblyperson Baru Bian, who are PSB deputy president and secretary-general respectively. - Mkini
