PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin wants Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to talk less and let his work do the talking instead.
The opposition leader said that as the prime minister, Anwar is supposed to fulfil his responsibility in leading the country by helping to solve the people’s problems, especially the increase in the cost of living.
“We need to take good care of this country, don’t just talk about it. There has never been a prime minister who acts as the spokesman for the Cabinet every day.
“Every time there is a Cabinet meeting, he is the spokesman for the government,” Hamzah said during the launch of the Marang PN election machinery in Terengganu last night.
The Larut MP also cautioned the prime minister, saying he should not “flip flop” on his statements as it could affect foreign investments into the country.
“Tomorrow he announces a policy to help the people, but the day after that, he says he never said that. In the end, the investors will leave Malaysia,” Hamzah said.
He told the government not to blame the opposition if these investors run away from the country because they only asked for solutions from the government to help the economy and solve issues that affect the people.
On Tuesday, Anwar told the Dewan Rakyat that he had no issue with flip-flopping on public policies if these decisions help the people.
This came after the government decided to maintain subsidies for chicken and eggs, and the public services department’s (JPA) scholarships for students pursuing studies in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. - FMT
